Stop This Train - John Mayer

Had a talk with my old man
Said help me understand
He said turn 68, you'll renegotiate
Don't stop this train
Don't for a minute change the place you're in
Don't think I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly we'll never stop this train

Every time I hear this lyric it makes me tear up. I find it beautiful, this image of him talking to his father about how he is feeling and his father giving him the advice to enjoy the place you are in, and making him understand that he has gone through the same things in his life. It's always surprising to be reminded that our parents have gone through many of the same struggles that we go through.

Just The Way You Are - Billy Joel

"You always have my unspoken passion/Although I might not seem to care"

I have been accused of seeming aloof at times...you know who you are, and this is for you.

The Sun - Maroon 5

"The sex she slipped into my coffee."

I just love the imagery of this lyric.

Words of Love - Buddy Holly

Hold me close and tell me how you feel/Tell me love is real

Ultimately isn't this what we all want? Someone to hold us close and tell us love is real...make us feel that love is real.

Behind Blue Eyes - The Who

"When I smile, tell me some bad news/Before I laugh and act like a fool"

I've always disliked my smile, thought it made me look goofy...I'm learning to enjoy it more now.

All You Need is Love - The Beatles

"Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be."

This lyric can be very reassuring if you're going through hard times, but if you are in a good place, and being true to yourself, then it just rings true.

Who Says - John Mayer

"Who says I can’t be free?/From all of the things that I used to be"

We all can change and don't have to be trapped by our past...what/how we used to be. The future is wide open.
